Description:
YOUTH AND CHILDREN’S DISCIPLESHIP COACH
Abiding Hope Lutheran Church, Littleton, Colorado
Youth and Children’s Discipleship Coach - coaches discipleship formation for all – children/youth/family - and lifts up and multiplies leaders so that the entire congregation is mobilized and owning the mission and vision for children’s and youth ministries.
The faith community of Abiding Hope Lutheran Church is seeking a deeply passionate and qualified candidate to interview for the full time position of Youth and Children’s Discipleship Coach.
Abiding Hope is in the midst of its twentieth year as a congregation. Located in unincorporated south Jefferson County (suburb of Denver), and nestled against the front range of the Rockies, this congregation has grown to be one of the ELCA’s largest, fastest growing, and most vibrant congregations. The people of Abiding Hope’s immediate mission field and the membership of the congregation are overwhelmingly white, suburban, educated, upper middles class families. The median population of the population is 33, giving Abiding Hope a distinctly youthful feel and a large cadre, nearly 500 youth below confirmation age, and another 200 youth in grades 7-12. There are four high schools in the immediate area, Dakota Ridge, Chatfield, Columbine, and Deer Creek. Abiding Hope fully expects to be a congregation of a growing and ever deeper discipleship, worshipping 2,500 per week, and utilizing multiple campuses, of which we currently also have a worshipping community in Highlands Ranch at Redstone Elementary.
The vision of Abiding Hope is “to gather, empower, and send persons into the 21st Century as disciples of the living Christ.” To that end, the person we are seeking must lead with an unashamed love for the gospel of Jesus Christ, have vision, creativity, energy, stamina, love for kids, and the gifts to equip and empower a large cadre of congregational youth ministers.
The following is an outline of the responsibilities this person would have in this position:
1. Develop a premier youth ministry in the areas of spiritual formation and cultivation of gifts towards service in the world.
2. Coach all children’s and youth ministries, utilizing key stepping stones of faith and consciousness towards asset building
3. Recruit, train, and equip both kids and adults for leadership in these ministries
4. Empower leadership for the 2 B Loved Children’s Ministry
5. Provide key leadership for our 2 B Hopeful Confirmation Ministry
6. Team with the Pastor for Discipleship for missional effectiveness in the whole of ministries offered here, including adult faith formation, worship leadership, pastoral care giving, community building, and outreach to the community and world.
7. Please see attached sheet for key leadership characteristics
Compensation Package: A generous salary that is negotiable - plus pension, medical, continuing education, professional allowance, and vacation.
At Abiding Hope we are passionate about filling our children and teens with faith, hope, love, and developmental assets. If the stated above are your passions, please send resume and contact:
