Are You Hard of Seeing?

When we say that you should ask —

“How can I use what I’ve got?” rather than
“How can I be what I’m not?”

That raises the question: “Use what I’ve got to do what?”

To See Reality and Respond Effectively.

Those in pastoral ministry, leadership, and marriage and family counseling must See Reality before they can Respond Effectively.

Seeing reality must come first. Working on what is NOT the problem will never solve the problem.

Our problem is not seeing the problem. Everyone else makes sense when we understand how they see things. That’s why people with grievances make sense until we hear the other side (“The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him” Prov. 18:17 NIV). The way others see things makes sense. But it may not fit reality.

When people don’t make sense it’s because we don’t understand them. If we understood them we would understand why they react as they do. We could Respond Effectively. We could anticipate their reaction and communicate in ways that help—very important in pastoral ministry, leadership, and counseling.

“Seeing Reality” comes first in “using what I’ve got.” Reality has four parts: reality about God, myself, others, and circumstances. That’s what we help students see.

Our D.Min. is a vision program. We help people see.
