Learning to Work With God
The Goal of our Doctor of Ministry Program
The Church is the body of Christ to live his life in the world. Because he wants us to be effective more than we want to be effective, he helps us. Leading effectively, whether as a pastor, organizational leader, or counselor, requires that we work with God rather than for God. His “super” energizes our “natural” to bring supernatural outcomes (1 Cor. 15:10; Col. 1:29).
The leadership paradigm upon which our Doctor of Ministry program is based emphasizes that we must cooperate with the Holy Spirit in order to work with God. We seek the best seminar leaders we can find to help make this happen. The following comments from students indicate that they are learning to work with God. Each comment comes from a different seminar this past summer.
“I have been given a new and godly way of looking at leadership principles.”
“I felt it was more than practical. I felt it was a spiritual experience as well!”
“Opened doors for growth; raised level of awareness of what it means to be a leader.”
“I was encouraged to look at my heart and life and be transformed.”
“Great teachers! Intelligent, insightful—they were very encouraging and personable. I feel fortunate to
have spent a week with them. I am glad I chose Denver!”
“I am growing in my spiritual life as well as in my professional life.”
We are workers together with God. We can’t do it all, and God won’t do it all. That means that to lead the people we work with, we must learn to work with God rather than for God. We glorify God by using the gifts he has given us rather than by trying to develop gifts he hasn’t given us. God uses us as we are when we work with him.
Come and join us in this journey of faith and be transformed.
