Commerce City, CO: Worship Director at Open Door Fellowship

Open Door Fellowship is seeking a skilled individual with a passion for genuine and meaningful worship, who can assist our pastoral staff in replanting our church. This would be a part-time position (minimum of 1 year) with the potential of becoming a full-time staff position as our church grows. Some Facts about Open Door Fellowship We are located in core Commerce City which is about a 45 minute drive from the seminary. We are meeting at 6690 Monaco Street, Commerce City, until January 2009 when we will move to a temporary facility in north Commerce City. We will meet in the temporary facility until our new building is constructed at 104th Avenue and Blackhawk. North Commerce City is a rapidly growing middle and upper middle-class community. There are a large number of young families. We are looking for someone who can assist us in providing a relevant and meaningful worship experience. We believe that good worship is not only essential for the church, but is a powerful tool that can be used to attract people to Jesus Christ. We will celebrate our 60th Anniversary in April 2009 and are one of oldest churches in Commerce City. We will also be one of the first churches to be built in north Commerce City. God has been good to us. Through a miraculous chain of events, our church was able to purchase 5 acres of prime land at 104th and Blackhawk which is a 10-12 minute drive north of our current location. The land is paid for and our church is debt free. There are approximately 24,000 people living in a three-to-five mile radius of our land. There are several church plants meeting in area schools, but only one church that has land and a building. We are humbled and honored that God provided this land for our church. In January 2008, we launched a capital stewardship program to help finance the construction of a new church facility. Our small church family raised $274,745 in pledges to be paid over the next three years. In the first year we have received $190,558, which is 69.4% of the total pledged. Our church family has given sacrificially to see our vision become reality. The architectural drawings and construction plans for our new building are 100% complete and approved by the city. Pastor Freds comment to our architect was, We are a Baptist church that is desperately trying to lighten up. The building design is fresh and new, and something that we and our city planners are very excited about. We are ready to begin construction as soon as an acceptable financing package can be arranged. With the current economic crisis in our nation, we are about $300,000 short of the cash needed to get a loan so that we can build our new church facility. We realize that in order to meet this need, we must double in size over the next year. We also realize that in order to grow, we must address our worship needs. Our church family is our greatest asset. As one of our newest members said, Ive been to a lot of churches, but this is the first place where I felt like I was really part of a family. We average 70-75 people in our services on Sunday morning. We have a number of senior citizens and adults age 40-55 in our church. We do not have many young families with children yet. The majority of our church family members are blue-collar workers and retirees. We have a good ethnic mix of Anglo, Hispanic, African-American, Asian, and Native American. One of the key factors in our decision to move our church to north Commerce City is the cultural shift that has taken place in our community. The area immediately surrounding our church holds one of the largest concentrations of first generation Latinos in Colorado. Many of these people speak little or no English. Our congregation does not have the resources or skills to minister effectively to this community. We were excited when our building sold to a Spanish speaking congregation because we believe they can have a ministry in this community that we could never have. In our 60 year history we have had only six pastors. Fred Askins our current pastor is just beginning his 20th year of ministry at ODF. Our pastoral staff consists of Pastor Fred and Connie Grosshans who is our Director of Outreach. Connie grew up in our church and joined our staff in 2006 to help with the revisioning and replanting of our church. Before that she was part of a church planting team in Caracas Venezuela, and served as Childrens Pastor of a large church in Ogden Utah. Pastor Fred and Connie are both graduates of Denver Seminary. Sue Johnson has been our volunteer music director for many years. She has a masters degree in music but has chosen nursing as her career. Sue has musical skills and talents that will be a tremendous asset to our next worship leader, and she is looking forward to working with him. In February of 2009, Joe and Calla Jean Wright will join our staff. Joe and Calla Jean have been serving as missionaries in Austria and have a long-term relationship with our church. They will assist ODF while finishing their last year with World Venture. Our pastoral staff brings a variety of ministry skills and experience that will be of great value to any student working with them. What We Expect From You A passion for genuine and meaningful worship. Skills to lead others in genuine and meaningful worship. Faithfulness and dependability. Respect for our church family as you initiate changes necessary to improve our worship experience. Work well with our pastoral staff. You will work most closely with Sue Johnson and Pastor Fred. Pastor Fred will have direct supervisory authority. What You Can Expect From Us We will give you the opportunity to be part of the spiritual adventure and miracle that our church is experiencing. We will treat you with kindness, courtesy, and respect. We will accept you as part of our church family. We will allow you to grow and learn as you develop your ministry skills and ideas. Our pastoral staff will offer their support and help as you implement necessary changes. We will negotiate a fair salary. To the best of our ability we will provide the resources to help you be successful in your ministry. We are a small church with limited resources. We will provide an excellent opportunity for you to gain valuable and practical ministry experience that will benefit you in your future ministry whether it is here at ODF or in another church. For further information, or to submit your resume for consideration, please contact Pastor Fred Askins, or Connie Grosshans at Open Door Fellowship 6690 Monaco Street Commerce City, CO 80022 (303) 288-8571 E-Mail: opendoorforyou@netzero.net

Craiova, South of Romania, Europe: Associate Pastor at Christian Baptist Church Sacrifice Romania

Hello,

My name is Damaris, I am from Romania from the south part of the country in Eastern Europe. I am in my last year in Medical School, studying to become a doctor. My father, George, is a pastor at the Christian Baptist Church "Sacrifice "from Craiova -this is the name of the city that has almost 500 000 inhabitants. Also, my father pastors other 3 churches close to our city, a Romanian church and a Gypsy church and he is working at the building church, too in Craiova. The reason I am writing is that my father is looking for an assistant pastor to help him in all this churches. There are so many things that can be known about our country and the city we live in. Ministry here is challenging and wonderful at the same time. Our church from Craiova has about 80 people and the other 3 are smaller. Christianity in our area is below 2%, so "the field is ready". In the same time we are building a building church as I mentioned, for different activities, because my father and i are trying to change as much as we can people's mentality about real Christians. Most of our country is Greek orthodox, but just by name, because they go 2-3 times per year to church, and tradition is very strong here.
My father is a great person, very open minded and ready to work together with an assistant pastor. Everything that he does is just according to the Bible and he loves God's Ministry more than anything in the world.
Few things about him. His name is George He is 49 years old. He graduated Agriculture University, then Theological Seminary, Master of Arts and Master of Divinity in Austria and now he is writing his PhD in History and Theology .
So, please in case there are young pastors that want to get involved and Minister here in Romania , they are very welcomed.
Don't hesitate to contact us.
Thank you very much and God bless you richly !

In Christ,
Damaris

Custer, WA: Senior Pastor at Sunrise Baptist Church

Sunrise Baptist is a country church located in Custer, WA. It was started by Swedish Missionaries in 1903 and remains in the same location with a congregation holding steady at about 275. Believers attending regularly are from diverse church backgrounds and occupations. We have a healthy age spread with emphasis on families. There is harmony among the members and a rising hunger for more of God. We look to Him for leadership and sustenance. The church actively sends as well as supports missionaries, with about 13% of the budget allocated to foreign missions.

Our church has several small group fellowships, a very healthy women's ministry, an active youth ministry, well attended Sunday School classes for all ages, a men's fellowship group as well as a senior group. We also have both a pre-school for area children that has successfully grown over the years and an active Awana program.

Sunrise functions using a blended, but worshipful music style led by dedicated personnel who rotate their duties. We value order, but listen for God's leading as we proceed.

Our pervious senior pastor served for 20 years and needed to cut back his ministry load at age 68. He left in good stead without pressure. We are currently blessed with a family pastor and a youth pastor who retain our respect, diligently contributing to the ongoing work of the ministry. We expect to benefit from the experience and dedication of another senior pastor.

We are looking for a person who is committed to the active leadership of our Lord in life and ministry. We especially desire a man and wife who value the presence of the Lord in the gatherings of God's people. We are strategically located in downtown Concord and worship together one block from Main Street and the seat of New Hampshire government. With our future Lead Pastor we will also be prepared to determine whether CenterPoint recommits to the downtown location, or relocates to our thirty-seven acre site strategically located at the interchange of a bypass and two major Interstate highways.

Sunday services at CenterPoint include biblical and relevant teaching, contemporary music, casual dress, a multi-generational congregation, and a warm welcome.
